Guest guest
Nov. 20,2003 Dear Listmembers, Thanks Fernando for your elucidation on your brief comments on my post yesterday in response to Bob's surprising 'emotional outburst' vis-a-vis same post. I find Bob's comments also quite uncharacteristic of someone of his reputation. I came back to my post yesterday and re-examined it again and worked out what was 'wrong' with it which led Bob to call it 'demagogic' and specifically panders to the new agey elements of our profession. If people will re-read my original post I only posed a few questions on how we came out having this situation of division between ap v CHM and then offered a very brief explanations of this circumstance. It was never intended to 'rabble-rouse' everyone into rallying around my flag. It was also never intended to be flashed like a red flag before a raging bull. Hence , I can only agree with Fernando's assessment of Bob's post as being 'new agey' whicm imo means being disconnected from reality . Going back to Bob's post, he stated that " historically in Asia there has been a dichotomy in the practice of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine " . Bob, which specific country in Asia are you referring to and which particular historical period ? Bob also stated that: " In historical fact, Chinese doctors have chosen to practice according to either mainly acupuncture-appropriate or herb appropriate theories and have denigrated the other theories in their writings. that is an individual choice. " Again Bob, could you please specify who this Chinese doctor is who practice his acupuncture or herb appropriate theory? And specifically could you please elucidate their 'theory'? Guest guest
Dear Rey, I have been putting away your letters for an enlightening read on a rainy day. As I am always amazed and intrigue by the potential knowing out there that you convey. Thanks for posting to the list... As for Bob letter maybe the following can be of use: Bob's assumption of pandering of new age is entirely his own. Ray never said new age of any sort and probably never will. This problem with reading English is exactly what Bob was talking about a week or so ago:-) Marco Bergh
