That is the problem with pdf [or any other] graphic character!

If it is not in a common font, such as Arial Unicode MS, it cannot

be copied into an MS Word search, or a Google search! ... At least

I have not found a way to copy it. Can this be done, i.e. to convert

a graphic into a common font?

Best regards,

My experience is that you must use OCR (optical character recognition)

software if you have graphics rather than a common font. From the document

creation side though, you can in fact create a PDF that uses Chinese

characters as actual fonts, not graphics. Specifically, I know with Adobe

Acrobat version 6 you can install the Asian language option which

facilitates the creation of Chinese language PDFs. I created a PDF tonight

from Microsoft Word and was able to do a google search via cut and paste

using the PDF. I can post that sample file if you'd like. It is a

selection sent me recently regarding yu1 xue4 and xue4 yu1.

Only through the use of a graphics program with an OCR, (charactor reading

program).
