Re: Re: Knowledge needed for APv CHM Jason Robertson <kentuckyginseng >>> At the risk of being labeled a fundamentalist, I must disagree with of few of Bob Flaws' recent comments regarding acupuncture and CM theory. I think that what you are saying Bob is not necessarily reflective of clinical reality. First, I agree with Rey that the concepts of herbal medicine and acupuncture meridians overlap in a great deal of the classical texts- take the Shang Han Lun for example ........................ or the fact that herbs " home to particular channels " (gui jing). For this reason, knowledge of meridians and acupuncture concepts can be very beneficial for herbalists. It is also important for acupuncturists. ........................ Jason, I don't want to take this statement of your's out of context, but I wonder why you've put it this way. ..... I mean: why do you use the word 'fact' in the above quote? " gui jing " is a 'fact'? I thought it was a theory first recorded in the 10th or 11th century.... and subject to discussion It's actually one of the 'facts' that I dare to question as an important one related to the practice and education: I am asking it to everybody here: " do you regard the notion of 'guij jing' of importance to your practice? " & " does it influence you as regarding to your prescriptions (of medicinals)? " & How and why? & why are students of so-called 'tcm' required to know this (the 'gui jing' thing, why is it included as obligatory knowledge while we should know ....... otherwise...) just wondering...
