Guest guest
from time to time, i run across great cont ed opportunities that are not pre-approved. sometimes i just pass them up, since like most practitioners, i do have some limits to my ce resources - they're not limitless. well, i'm tired of passing them up. in the past, i've had so many hrs/pda's it didn't matter, but during this certification period i have more items that weren't pre-approved hours. e.g., command spanish for healthcare professionals, and a cardiology and cardiac rhythms review. i'm seriously considering taking a college course in asian history, but i'm thinking that maybe i can't afford that class along with some more 'real,' pre-approved hrs. also, i know if i drove into portland & took tai chi or qi gong at a schools, those hrs would count. would they count, just the same, since i am taking those classes elsewhere, not at a school? i recently 'did' my 2nd degree reiki, and of course, that was not at a school. i'm planning to become a Certified Cardiologic Technician, to accommodate my night job, and figure i should be able to count ce hrs, related to cardiology and basic sciences, as hrs toward my license ce, also. what has been your experience of how anal the nccaom is, regarding counting ce classes? any comments related to your general experience, and examples, as well as comments on any of my examples above, are welcome. thanks in advance. lynn
