soxhlet extractor anyone?

Hi,

Has anybody used Soxhlet extractor's for making alcohol extracts? I've been

making lots of oil based topicals and I thought it would be easier to extract

stuff with a solvent and then combine the product with oil, wax etc, vs. the

charbroil in oil method. Is there any obvious disadvantage to this? It seems

like the lower temps would do less denaturing to the substance. The only people

I've been able to get info from are hash oil manufacturers, who have this sussed

in as far as pot goes but they seem a little cagey, seem to have access to a

world of exotic solvents [which I don't] and have a substantial disregard for

the impact of solvent residues on their livers.
