Guest guest
thank you all for weighing in on the properties of oregano oil. I agree that an ongoing program of supplementing, harmonizing, phlegm damp transforming herbs is a preventive strategy. In my mind the oregano oil was an additional tool to use during the season to boost wei qi, thus destroying potential bacterial pathogens. I think the crux of the topic is is this truly preventive? Do circulating phenols prevent infection by stimulating the immune response? If so, what stage of the immune cascade does it affect, etc? Schnaubelt's book appears to indicate use once an infection has already taken hold. Over the last 8 weeks I took a total of 90 gelcaps at 0.2mL's each, about 1 or 2 every day or other day. How can I find out how the liver may be compromised by overuse. Not only with oregano, but I would find such a discussion valuable for my general knowledge. (What French aromamedical literature, Catherine? Thnx.) Someone (Rey?) mentioned a dictionary that listed the traditional medicinal values - what is the name/author of it? I was also taught that overuse of exterior releasing herbs in a qi xu pt before illness is detrimental, even allowing wind evil to invade more easily. Thus I question the use of Ge Gen Tang + Gui Zhi Tang as a preventive (Alon?). -pz
