Guest guest
Hi all, Does anyone have opinion as to the effect of dental implants? I'm referring to any adverse effects of metal inserted in bone.( Of course, this issue might extend to other types of metal appliances installed in one's bio-structure.) Anyone had occasion to observe enough adverse events to draw some considered opinion? Any views of this among the Japanese practioners? The time has come for me to consider this for myself and i am, well, squeamish. Ann
Guest guest
I have had a titanium implant in sice 1987 and I have had no problem with it. Before that this tooth had always given me trouble. Given the choice of a root canal, a bridge or an implant, I'm glad I chose the implant. One tooth was affected instead of three as in the case of a bridge and I personally believe that root canals can be a source of bacteria getting into the interior(MSU? I don't care). The tooth was pulled and allowed to heal for six months before the implant surgery. I think titanium is considered neutral but it is a more noble metal than most so it could cause electrolysis problems on other teeth with other metals. My dentist checks this every time I go in. I also use a water pik device on low flow with green tea or other herbs to clean around it and my other teeth. They are doing great now but when I was a child I had alot of problems.
