Anyone have any ideas regarding topical applications to assist with

treatment of uterine fibroids related to Blood Stasis? A colleague

was wondering about topical tincture/liniment recipes using

ingredients such as mo yao, ru xiang, xue jie, etc. Her patient

would like to make some for home use. I have recipes for traumatic

injuries, but never used them on a more chronic stasis condition.

Thanks--Jason Wright

Jason,

I am using a formula that was designed for women with blocked fallopian

tube. The formula came from a research study published in Journal of Chinese

medicine number 55 Sept 1997 " Infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes. " It

used a combination of acupuncture and a steamed herbal pack used over the

abdomen. Total effective rate which varied from cure to improvement was 90.5%. I

also

combined the internal use of shao fu zhu yu tang. It may work well for

fibroids, however, I would suggest reading the whole study first. The patient I

used

it on has begun to feel noticeable movement and pulsations in the low

abdomen. Objective signs include tongue and pulse changes. She will repeat the

hysterosalpingogram at 3 months mark to document any changes. Hope this can help

as

a starting point.
