Guest guest
Jason, Brian, Z'ev, and all, The effects of sex are likely one of histories more contraversial topics. Add to that that this discussion has focused on jing depletion, which seems to be difficult to assess in the short term, and this discussion could go on for ever without resolve. So, it occured to me that it could be useful clinically to focus this discussion on a few points, such as, if your patient comes in and says that he met a new lover and has been having sex and ejaculating 6x per day for the last week, could you diagnosis jing depletion? how? or would he be likely to exhibit an effect consistent with his constitution? i.e. if he were spleen qi xu he might be more fatiqued? if liver depression perhaps he feels invigorated, etc. point being that we should be able to guide individual patients to how much is enough, no? I recently had a patient that complained that he has recently experienced insomnia on nights when he has ejaculated more than once. He sleeps fine if the sex happens earlier in the day. looks to me like heart and kidneys bu jiao, i prescribed a formula accordingly and told him that it would best if he avoided ejaculating to the point of insomnia, something that he assured me he had already discovered. Anyone else have any sex as it pertains to cm patterns stories? Dean
