Guest guest
I think this is fairly common after antibiotics. I would agree with Alon and try Wen Dan Tang based on what you have described. doug , SusFro@A... wrote: > Greetings all, > Does anyone have experience in treating tinnitus follwing antibiotic use? > > 57 y.o. male pt., tinnitus onset 4 mos. ago following a 10 day course of > antibiotics and ear drops, for an external " boil " on L ear. Guest guest
Yes, often a liver deficiency is the cause of tinnitus, and antibiotics may have been the cause of a liver deficiency. Also the infection, causing the prescription of the antibiotics, may have offended the TH, which in turn may have caused tie tinnitus. Also an allergic reaction to the antibiotics may have been involved in the development of the tinnitus. Guest guest
Hi Susan- I do not think that tinnitus can be cured by TCM. I have had tinnitus for over 15 years as a result of a hospital over loading me with antibiotics. All considered, I would not be here, if they didn't. When I was a student I had several practitioners work on it... to no avail. Although, at one point with acupuncture the ringing noise changed to a clicking noise... and now it is back to its normal ringing! Of course would love to hear of others who may have treated this successfully *S* Teresa Hall, L.Ac, M.S, Q.M.E. 619-517-1188 - <SusFro Thursday, February 05, 2004 5:34 PM tinnitus following antibiotic use > Greetings all, > Does anyone have experience in treating tinnitus follwing antibiotic use? > > 57 y.o. male pt., tinnitus onset 4 mos. ago following a 10 day course of > antibiotics and ear drops, for an external " boil " on L ear. Guest guest
Dear Susan, Are and Teresa, I, too have had success with two patients with tinnitus, in my limited clinical experience. One had accompanying meniere's with a pattern of liver fire and the other, a cancer patient had symptom of tinnitus after chemo damaging kidney yin and jing. Though the points and herbs used were different, in each case I complemented treatment with Craniosacral therapy. I found that DRAMATIC changes occured after I released the intracranial membranes, particularly the occiput, and temporal lobes. I unfortunately, will not be able to answer any mail for the next week, as I am leaving Tuesday for my son's engagement celebration in Israel. Much blessing and good health to all. Guest guest
I've also had success with certain patients. Especially those patients who had swollen +/- infected sinuses or allergies. As you would expect, patients with recent onset healed easier than others. The chronic old age low grade tinnitus might be real tough to get headway on. I had a patient who had hearing damage & tinnitus from a bad batch of polio vaccene when it first came out a long time ago, which I couldn't touch. I had good luck doing SI 19 with deep insertion using a 1.5 " needle for the more acute cases.
