Guest guest
Has anyone ever used Lei Gong Teng (Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F). I would be interested in the results. Thanks Rich Blitstein
Guest guest
Rich, Never personally used Lei Gong Teng. What I know from the Chinese literature is that this med has considerable potential for side effects. In my reading of the literature, most of the Chinese who seem to use this med are Western MDs practicing integrated Chinese-Western medicine. Blue Poppy has published at least some materials on the side effects of this med. I believe they are in the Free Articles section at www.bluepoppy.com. I know I've translated stuff on this med. Guest guest
I have used Lei gong teng in about 25 cases. I used to make an ethanol h2o extract which worked better than decoction. It mostly worked for autoimmune type inflammations, but only symptomatic, as soon as stopped symptoms came back. Lately i have tried evergreen powdered but it does not seem to do much. Although said to help neuralgias I have only very limited results using it for that, and have only tried the powdered form (i.e. evergreen). I never had any problems and i have the patient take B6 and B12 with every dose. I never used large doses or for a long time. I think it can be used safely but one must do blood tests and warn the patient of possible complications. Alon
