Guest guest
Hi All, I am wondering what other Oriental medicine practitioners out there tell their female patients about birth control. We know that birth control pills are cold and damp-generating, damage the Spleen, and lead to accumulation of damp and/or phlegm in the lower jiao, which can cause obstruction and possibly accumulations in the form of cysts and tumors. I have some female patients who suffer from dampness and phlegm, who use birth control pills, and while I have educated them about how their usage can be contributing to their problem, I feel somewhat remiss for not being able to offer a better alternative. So I have some questions: What do you tell your patients about this, and how do you say it? Do you recommend any alternatives; if so, which? Are epidermal applications any better (Norplant)? Do you ever suggest manual alternatives (diaphgram, condom)? What kind of response do you get from these discussions? Thank you for your input. While I've had this conversation, I have never felt like I am able to " close the loop " and get any resolution where this topic is concerned. In some patients, this is the only factor I can see as causing their dampness. Search - Find what you’re looking for faster.
