Guest guest
I am looking for any information on herbs for traumatic spinal chord injury. The patient is 7 year old female who had a transection at T11-12 in Oct 2003 from a car accident. She is currently receiving acupuncture as well as other therapies. I have not seen the patient as of yet but had some questions regarding possible avenues of approach: 1) If she is without any constitiutional pathology aside from the injury would it be ok to give the herbs that readily come to mind that effect the Du channel-i.e. Lu Rong and derivatives, Gui Ban etc.? 2) Would there be a place for herbs that guide to the channel such as qiang huo? 3) Would one use balanced Kidney yin and yang tonics in such a formula even if there were no other signs of Kidney deficiency? 4) Are there any ready made pills for this type of problem? Thanks, Rich Blitstein PCOM Chicago
