Guest guest
We do not allow attachments on CHA, so I have uploaded this petition to the files section. the file announcement should come separately. I am glad some action is being taken, but I have to say that I do not believe the FDA has the authority to create the exemption requested in this petition. while they could delete the ban xia inclusion, I seriously doubt they can exempt us from the rule altogether without an act of congress. I am really curious if ANYONE involved in this matter has actually consulted a lawyer who specializes in government regulation issues. Both the actual scope of this rule and the possible legal solutions have been repeatedly misinterpreted by most of the organizations involved. When are we going to bring in an expert to handle this. You may ask why don't I put my money where my mouth is. Well, I have no money. but schools do, herbs companies do and professional orgs do. It is time for action; there is no greater threat we face. > William Egloff <bill > Sat Mar 13, 2004 5:29:40 AM US/Pacific > < > AHPA's Ephedra Petition to FDA > > Hi > Enclosed is the Petition for Reconsideration and Petition For Stay of > Action to the FDA by AHPA and it's Chinese Herb Product Committee in > regard to ephedrine alkoloids. My view is that suing is not always the best answer, but I generally don't berate others for pursuing the best path they think will result in an answer. It is certainly sad to see that no one has any money. I guess it is all about to how much we want to give up today versus how much we will be giving up tomorrow, isn't it? Everyone has reasons why they can't afford more, or any for that matter. " I don't like that person " or what this or that person or group did or didn't do years ago, or yesterday. Sounds like a nice epitaph. Me? I'll keep working on this the best I can with whatever I can afford (about $5-10,000 a year and about 10 days of my time) to make a difference on both a state and federal level, working as a volunteer representative of AAOM and my state assn. You can do this too by getting to know your own congressperson and state reps on a first name basis, which isn't difficult or expensive to do. Takes some time, though, which many have plenty of because insurance doesn't cover acupuncture. I went out at night and got over 100 signatures on petitions for 3 candidates, in my spare time. They remember that. Got to meet some people in my neighborhood, too. Remember that? It isn't only money, and it isn't only you or me or AAOM or any other group. What is that saying? If we don't all hang together, we will hang together. My wife thinks I'm crazy spending my money and time this way, but everybody needs a hobby, and I happen to love my profession and want to do everything I can to ensure its future in my own special way.
