Guest guest
some time ago, rodleblanc passed on his wonderful recipe for tincturing both a men's and a wonmen's formula for immunity. Although I haven't done the extraction yet, it remains a project for me, which I will age the herbs in an at least 50% proof wine for a couple months at least - standard method for extraction. However, I have decocted a formula that the source states should be taken as a medicinal wine AFTER describing that the formula should be decocted first. Its a post-surgery tonic. Can anyone advise me about the method inferred? How much wine should be added to a formula that has already been decocted and makes no reference to aging? -Pamela
Guest guest
Greetings Pamela Thanks for mentioning the formula passed on and I wish you success. I do only use a 35% proof solution of rice wine and find that 4 months mellows the extract. The tonics are kidney tonics best taken in winter. It would appear to be that the decocted formula you are going to use would only require a slight amount of alcohol to act as a carrier especially with post surgery. I would start with less than 10% of volume and I can't see how aging would affect the already extracted formula. But then again I am not as familiar using this method as others might be.
