Dear Colleagues

 

For years I have struggled with how to support the current existence

and future mission of CHA. I have never felt comfortable asking for

money for anything, especially intangible things like time or

information. The late Jim Ramholz always used to tell me to get over

it. If CHA was ever to accomplish anything of substance, it will need

money. Jim thought the forum should be by subscription only. That was

never a popular idea and many other internet sites have been damaged by

offering for a fee what were once free services. In addition, the

diversity expressed in the CHA forum would not be present if it was

based upon ability to pay. Other revenue streams have also been

lackluster, including the conference. I guess money isn't what

motivates me so I am not very good at making it solely to reward myself.

 

However I am now driven to ramp up CHA activities related to its

mission. I guess with recent events, including Jim's passing, I am

feeling that time is of the essence here. In particular, I want to lay

the groundwork for a research foundation. But with current debts and

operating costs, we are always just barely in the black. In order to

maintain the forum and continue with the annual conference while

simultaneously developing a not for profit research arm will require me

to either hire staff or take away time from other guaranteed income

sources. In light of all this, I have decided with much trepidation to

stick my toe gingerly into the wide world of internet affiliate

programs.

 

I understand that people are reluctant to join organizations or buy

subscriptions to information. I know I am. On the other hand, I know

people need to buy actual physical things for themselves, family,

friends and practices. So I have decided to affiliate with several

companies who most of us patronize once in a while anyway. I chose a

few companies I have been happy with and which provide a wide range of

products and services at excellent prices. The companies are
