Guest guest
Alon, that is good news. Then, were you premature in announcing on this list that the State Fund had a new policy or ruling on acupuncture? I just got authorization from State Fund for the treatment of a patient with acupuncture for low back pain. > I think we are at a place were different case managers will > interpit the new law differently. So we need to collect all the positive studies we can on all musculoskeletal disorders and create a document so that we can appeal cases. Perhaps we still have an opening. > Alon >
Guest guest
Alon, that is good news. Then, were you premature in announcing on this list that the State Fund had a new policy or ruling on acupuncture? <<<<That is a difficult question to answer and i still think we are in very dangerous territory. I think even work comp insu comp still do not know what to do with the new guidelines. The approval I got was on a patient referred from her MD without going to review. The case manager also stated that this is the last time she would do this without going to the review process. It was the review process that stated that we do not have the evidence. We will need have evidence and I think the name of the game will be trying to assemble the best data we can. This may help in the short run. But in the long run, if we cannot show in big studies with Sham acup that we do better and that we get significant results we will loose. Lets hope that we can work comp in the mean time. I still say to anybody on this list that is a part of any of the schools that this should be the first priority period. Everything else is way behind. The schools must teamup with local universities, fund studies by themselves and by getting money from needle and herb companies, and do this quickly. I think we will find our self's in legal battles trying to get paid on a regular bases now. Since it looks like we may get very different interpretations of the law from different case managers and from the review comities. So please do not relax. We MUST address this with outmost regency.
