Consumer Reports May 2004 article on herbal supplements

Hi,

 

A news article on the site today had a summary of the above article

and a quote (not from the article): " A lot of people believe that herbal

supplements are safe because they've been used for years in traditional

medicine, " says senior editor Nancy Metcalf. But " when they went looking

for problems in China , they found plenty of them. " A very ambiguous

statement, and the first reference I have seen by Consumer Reports to the

fact that herbs are used in traditional medicine in their reporting. This

is not helping our profession at all.
