Guest guest
I want to apologize to Dave Molony, the AAOM and the the entire profession for any complicity I may have had in creating inertia regarding the FDA's plans for our herbs. Over the years, I have dismissed the more extreme scenarios. I did this largely based upon my personal communications and correspondences with FDA officials. Like the AHPA, I thought I was being treated honestly when official after official guaranteed me that we were not in their radar. We had a good safety record and everyone seemed to know that. So I went on to other business. Dave once pointed out my political naivete. While I think I am pretty good at assessing the information available, I have not been down in the trenches for 20 years. If I am being lied to, then I can't make a proper assessment of things. Only those in the trenches actually know what goes on in the trenches. While I do not think pure politics will ever the solution to our dilemma, I think we should all start paying more attention to what the AAOM says (and join and pay dues). It makes perfect sense that Dave knows more about washington politics than I do. While you may have rationalized that you couldn't afford to pay your dues before, you can't afford not to now.
