Guest guest
Do anyone know a source of data for a quantified analysis of the constituents of Chinese medicinals? It is very easy to find lists of the chemicals contained, but to track down the actual quantified ranges of these chemicals is difficult. Clearly I just don't know exactly where to look. I can only find lists that give the ranges of one or two key constituents, even in Chinese. I would not be surprised if the answer comes from someone savvy in the fields of botany or chemisty. The info is not common in TCM books and is hard to find in the Western med literature, via pubmed or in Chinese. Anyone? Eric Brand
Guest guest
Eric, The only source I know of that lists approx. concentrations (ppm) is the following free-access website: http://www.ars-grin.gov/duke/ Jim Duke's Phytochemical and Ethnobotanical Databases (Agricultural Research Service) Contains many Chinese herbs but not all common ones. Most texts I've seen only list ingredients. Several people contributed suggestions re chemical constituent texts, but I forgot to ask whether these also contain quantitative analyses. Anyone know about the following? Chinese Drugs of Plant Origin by Tang and Eisenbrand; Springer-Verlag Constituents of Chinese Herbal Drugs by Hsu (encylopedic reference) Chinese Materia Medica: Chemistry, Pharmacology and Applications by You-Ping Zhu Traditional s, Molecular Structures, Natural Sources and Applications by X.
