Guest guest
Rory, Thanks for posting this. May be useful PR fodder. One way this information might be used is for CHA members to copy and forward it to their local newspapers and radio and tv station news departments. We need some good press. Guest guest
In recent years, as antibiotic-resistant organisms, and possibly genetically engineered organisms, spread further, I've seen an increasing number of clients who have exhausted all medical options with no results, followed by recovery when taking the type of classical herbal formulas described for the stages of WenBing illnesses. Many of my students have had similar experiences. Several of these cases were hospitalized and pronounced near death by the doctors. One was a case of high fever with kidney failure (anuresis) and micro-hemorrhaging of the skin; within 5 hours of starting the herbs, the temp. was reduced to almost normal and kidneys began to function normally. Took several weeks to fully recover, though. Before the last decade, the Ying and Xue-stage illnesses were only theoretical exercises to me. It was a relief to discover that these formulas actually worked. I wrote an article on SARS last year: http://www.rmhiherbal.org/review/2003-3.html Although I've not knowingly seen any cases of SARS, I have seen various epidemic URI illnesses, and the most common mistakes I read about people making during the SARS epidemic is using " formulas for SARS " without bothering to match the patterns correctly. It is crucial to match the formula to the level of penetration (Wei/Qi/Ying/Xue) and the quality (Dry vs. Damp). The trickiest case I remember is a man who had what appeared to be a hybrid between Ying-stage Wet Heat and Ying-Xue-level Yin Damage (tongue coating beginning to become denuded in patches). Too much Yin tonics and vomiting and fever may be aggravated, too many bitter herbs, and Yin would be damaged. Fortunately, I guessed right regarding balance of each. I often include DaQingYe (Fm, Isatidis) in such cases, seems to be an effective broad-spectrum antiviral, regardless of level. ---Roger Wicke, PhD, TCM Clinical Herbalist contact: www.rmhiherbal.org/contact/ Rocky Mountain Herbal Institute, Hot Springs, Montana USA Clinical herbology training programs - www.rmhiherbal.org > " Bob Flaws " <pemachophel2001 >Re: SARS: TCM recognized > >Rory, > >Thanks for posting this. Guest guest
I really appreciate this post. It re-emphasizes the fact that there exists a very real need for exactly what we have to offer. If we stick to our roots (the classics, fundamentals, etc.) we will naturally rise to our appropriate place in the modern healthcare system. - John Aguilar Jr., L.Ac. rw2 wrote: In recent years, as antibiotic-resistant organisms, and possibly genetically engineered organisms, spread further, I've seen an increasing number of clients who have exhausted all medical options with no results, followed by recovery when taking the type of classical herbal formulas described for the stages of WenBing illnesses.
