Pat thank you. sadly, after 2 fairly major financial losses due to poor attendance, it is unlikely that CHA will be able to host a future conference. The 2 year loss now stands around $12,000. After last year's conference, there was much talk from several herb companies about bearing some of the organizational and marketing expense. I would like to thank those several companies that supported CHA with some marketing help, unfortunately to little avail. Despite links on their websites and inserts in their product mailings, not a single attendee registered as a result. With all the pressing political and legal activity this past year, I understand that no organizational support was actually possible. I have not checked, but while there were often 20-30 people in the audience (100 for Bob's keynote), perhaps as few as 7 were fully paid professional attendees. Unless I am able to raise some money rather quickly from professional membership, DVD, book and software sales, this is probably the denoument of CHA. That means the beginning of the end. So if you support CHA, now really is the time to show it. In addition to normal service and discounts, professional members who register in the next 30 days (and anyone who just registered or renewed in 2004) will receive a free conference DVD (your choice of 4) plus 3 powerpoint presentations and a complete set of conference notes. In my opinion, being an inveterate bargain hunter myself, Heiner Fruehauf's lecture alone is worth 50 bucks.
