Guest guest
Hi, I'd like to hear some details about how you all run your practices. For instance, I've seen some acupuncturists practice from the point of view that continuing to get acupuncture treatments on an ongoing basis is good for you, while I've seen others just treat the main complaint and then send people on their merry way hoping they'll come back if they need to. As a new practitioner I'm not quite sure how I want to approach this. I tend to think that if a client doesn't feel roped into ongoing treatments they will feel more comfortable coming back when they need to. My sense is that some people truly benefit from ongoing treatments (especially if they have a chronic disease, for instance) whereas others might be better off not manipulating their qi all the time alone unless they have a problem they need to address. Naturally I need to make a living, but given that I do my best to be an integrity-based person, I wouldn't want to be talking people into unnecessary treatments. Also, I certainly wouldn't want to see our profession get the same reputation as chiropractors have gotten. Any thoughts on this? I'm also curious how often you all use herbs as opposed to only using acupuncture, but maybe I'm biting off more than you can chew.
