Also One of patient's has started taking some NEW estrogen for

osteoporosis, and says that her doc says that it doesn't have any of

the risks? Can anyone confirm this or have information about what she

is talking about?

It could be a SERM or selective estrogen receptor modulator. I don't

know the generic name, but the brand name that came on the market just a

few years ago is EVISTA. It is referred to as a " designer estrogen " and was

designed specifically to treat osteoporosis. Supposedly it does not carry the

same

cancer causing risk as other types of estrogen, but, if I remember correctly it

does

have the same risk of strokes and blood clots, so I wonder about its adverse

affects

on the heart that is another concern regarding HRT.
