Guest guest
It could be a SERM or selective estrogen receptor modulator. I don't know the generic name, but the brand name that came on the market just a few years ago is EVISTA. It is referred to as a " designer estrogen " and was designed specifically to treat osteoporosis. Supposedly it does not carry the same cancer causing risk as other types of estrogen, but, if I remember correctly it does have the same risk of strokes and blood clots, so I wonder about its adverse affects on the heart that is another concern regarding HRT. --- Also One of patient's has started taking some NEW estrogen for osteoporosis, and says that her doc says that it doesn't have any of the risks?
