The only real TCM dictionaries for translation are the ones by Nigel

Wiseman. Some other ones are put out by in the PRC, but they don't

have any glossaries to explain the terms and they use a lot of

Western medical words. While the PRC dictionaries try to make TCM

terms more savvy and understandable to WM doctors, they really

obscure the TCM terms by equating ancient words with modern concepts

that the ancient authors would never have been able to know about.

Mr. Wiseman's green dictionary from Hunan Press is available through

Redwing or any acupuncture school. It is really the only TCM

dictionary in existence that develops an English technical language

for TCM, which is quite necessary given that there are over 3,000

specific characters and 30,000 compound terms to explain things in

TCM. The idea of people studying Western medicine without developing

terms in their own language for things like cell walls, hemoglobin,

etc is quite ridiculous. TCM is the second largest medical system in

the world, but it has only recently had a developed technical

language outside its mother tongue for translators and students to

use. Mr. Wiseman's terms govern technically accurate translation by

default, because no one to date has ever created any other term list

that can be referenced. Such a thing would take ten or twenty years

to create, without generating any money in the process.
