Michael,

Would you kindly be more specific: what type of moxa pole do

you use? Perhaps it varies between patients, but where

exactly do you put poles--does it depend on where the

individual's pain is? Does it matter what the individual's

CM diagnosis is?

Thanks, Marian

Hi Marian,

I use a smokeless moxa pole, I don't see why a smoky one would not work, I just

prefer smokeless. If you come straight outward from shimian to where the soft

flesh meets the bone, on either side of the foot. I start there until they feel

the heat sensation penetrate to shimian, then I will work the sole of the foot

from kidney 1 to shimian.

I don't stress about a cm dx, many of these patients have been men that really

only wanted that issue addressed. Off the top of my head, recently a tennis

player, a locksmith, and a salesperson and highschool football coach. Yes, they

had different issues and would have different cm dx, but they are very happy

that I was able to help their main complaint. Two of these people I only treated

once in the office and gave them the moxa to burn at home. They both are

completely pain free now. The salesperson had obvious ki xu signs when I met

him, of which some have cleared up. (Urinary difficulty and edema in the lower

legs)

Hope you find this helpful.

Cheers,

Michael O'Brien
