Guest guest
Recalling that somepne posted recently about a patient with extreme sensitivity to sunlight, I came across this article which discussed reports of persons who had consumed larger than average amounts of buckwheat lettuce/juice and experienced symptoms including skin sensitivity to sunlight, hot and cold, extreme pain when bumping or knocking into things, and extreme itching. Apparently the author believes its due to a chemical in the plant called fagopyrin, which is present in significant amounts in the sprouts/lettuce but is only present in trace amounts in the seed/groats, which is why all the soba lovers of the world dont have this problem. I wonder how closely these sx matched the patient originally discussed? Either of these links should get you there. http://tinyurl.com/4f2b4 www.gillesarbour.com/buckwheatArticle.php Glenn Gruby
