Guest guest
I'm only aware of the use of prickly pear cactus (Opuntia dillenii Haw.) being used in TCM. Besides the cactus itself, the dried sap, flowers, and seeds are also used. Xian Ren Zhang is the name of the primary medicinal, it is classed as a bitter, cold medicinal that enters the heart, lung, and stomach. It moves qi and quickens blood, clears heat and resolves toxin. It is used in the treatment of heart and stomach qi pain, lump glomus, dysentery, bleeding hemorrhoids, cough, sore throat, breast abscess, clove sores, burns and scalds, and snakebite. The juice of the red fruit is also a common beverage in Taiwan, and the fruit is sometimes eaten in the US. Mexican grocery stores often stock " nopales " (the green part diced up), it is good to saute with eggs. -Eric Brand , " krhkempo " <krhkempo@a...> wrote: > Does anyone know if Opuntia Humifusa aka beaver tail cactus is used > in TCM and if so could you provide any info. > > thank you > > Ken Hoffman
