A professor of mine taught a whole class on treating lingering

pathogens, which unfortunately I missed, but I have the notes from

the class. The idea is to use herbs to clear the pathogen at

whatever level it resides and add herbs that release the surface plus

herbs like qi tonics to support the bodies ability to release and/or

a few yin/blood tonics if needed to protect the yin. Makes sense to

me. The thing that you want to avoid is directing the formula to the

kidney (which would get in the way of releasing the pathogen).

I'm not sure what her source of information was.

I often do acupuncture treatments like this and it seems to be very

beneficial.

From what I understand, one indication that someone would benefit

from a treatment like this is if despite apparently needing kidney

tonification they do not do well with it. I have found that after

approaching someone in this way they come around to benefitting from

tonifying treatments in a way that they had not been able to before.

Anyone else have experiences like this?
