In the summary, it says: " Authorize and define traditional Oriental diagnosis. The scope of practice should include an explicit authorization to conduct traditional Oriental diagnosis. Practitioners who are already licensed and choose to perform biomedical tests in making any diagnosis should be required to complete specific continuing education requirements and take a supplemental examination. " That means one option is to take specific CEUs (another would be to incorporate it into the DAOM for those who go that route). It does not mean that those who already use lab tests can just continue without further training, IMO. I don't think Misha's course would qualify as any such course would have to be certified for the specific purpose of granting test ordering privileges (which is illegal in OR, for an out of state example) and be far more comprehensive than just the information necessary to track progress in hep C. The state is certainly not going to get into parsing out that this person can order these lab tests and this person can order others. there will be a single comprehensive curriculum that will be developed by the schools, accreditors and associations to meet the LHC mandate. The one good thing from this report is that we will be given the opportunity to police ourselves.
