The visioning task force is now arranging a future search that will

gather 81 stakeholders in the field to carve out a shared vision for

our future. I think this process continues to remain doomed to failure

as it does not recognize that there are irreconcilable difference

between various stakeholders in the field. for example, I will admit

my unyielding stubbornness on the issue of spirit in TCM. If our

profession rallies around any " vision " that includes the words spirit

or energy or anything that smacks of that, I will give up my license

and head to the hills. I will know when I'm beaten. Yes, I want our

profession to be purged of these ideas that are anathema to both the

history of OM and western science and I see no room for compromise on

this point at all. I will not support yielding to the whims of

so-called stakeholders, who may have little or no knowledge of the

actualities of history and science. So many in our field rely on

pseudoscience and pure fantasy to pursue their craft and yet many such

folks will be invited to join the discussion because they happen to

have acquired power in the field. No progress will be made until we

splinter into our native groups and vigorously pursue our quite

different agendas. Stop pretending we have any common vision and fight

it out to see which camp wins the day. Compromise never gets you

anywhere in matters of logic and evidence.
