Guest guest
The EU's Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive would seem to require all chinese herbal products to be registered through the new simplified registration scheme. This scheme allows companies to apply for a 7 years transition period for their products prior to full registration. This applies to products that have a long traditional use worldwide, but only 15-30 years of common use in the EU. Have european suppliers of chinese herbal products (such as American companies like BP) applied for this transitional status for their product line. If not, it appears all prepared products NOT on this transitional list will be banned as of 10/2005. It is vital that all chinese herbs and classical formulas be on this list ASAP. Please let me know what the european chinese herbal community is doing about this. I admit I may be wrong about this as European law is hardly my area of expertise, but I have read the documents closely. Here is a detailed FAQ on the THMPD: http://www.bcma.co.uk/proposed_directive_on_traditiona.htm Chinese Herbs
