Guest guest
Happy thanksgiving, I found another nice source for e texts at: http://www.theqi.com/cmed/oldbook/oldbook_top.html The su wen is a little nicer, it doesn't have the drop out characters from the Japanese version CHA is currently hosting. I downloaded the zhen jiu da cheng (220 pages without pictures!) and I'm setting it up as a word file and I was going to add the pictures from my musty Chinese edition, is anybody else interested in making files of the other books so we can put them in the CHA library? Also, does anybody have e text for Zhu Dan Xi and Li Dong Yuan? The search engine baidu.com seems to work a little better than google for Chinese searches. I just pasted the si zhen xin fa (the heart method of the four diagnoses) into wenlin. It appears to be a series of brief statements of fact on diagnosis, a fairly easy read with the instant lookup. This is a gold mine. The wen bing xue and wen re lun are here plus many others I have never heard of. This is what we have been waiting for. Thanks. great score. Guest guest
Furthermore, for those in China or traveling. One can buy a DVD with 1000's of classic texts for about $40. It is completely searchable. It also contains case studies, commentaries etc etc... It is all pre-modern (no copyrights) - and very worth having. - > > > Sunday, November 21, 2004 3:29 AM > > Re: another source of texts > > > > , " Par Scott " <parufus@e...> > wrote: > > Happy thanksgiving, > > > > I found another nice source for e texts at: > > http://www.theqi.com/cmed/oldbook/oldbook_top.html > > this is awesome. Guest guest
It is quite accurate... But the huge advantage is that you can search for phrases, term usages, herbs , anything... but you would have to have some ability to read and see what you wanted to grab. It is amazing research tool... Unfortunately, I have not seen it available in the US... -Jason > > > Sunday, November 21, 2004 5:29 PM > > Re: another source of texts > > > > , " " > <@c...> wrote: > > It can indirectly... via an OCR prg. > > How cumbersome and accurate is that? Guest guest
It is a royal pain to cut and paste from. Edition 2 which has been out for around a year aparently can be grabbed from, but it will only take X number of characters, and many of the little chunks that it chops text up into are bigger than X. If you do a screen capture you can run that through a OCR program, but that too is a pain in the neck. The website for the people who produce the one I have is http://www.tcm-encyclopaedia.com/ they produce a classical and a simplified version of the product. I'm told the 2nd edition has more typos, but I can't imagine they went back and rescanned all those books... Aspects of the interface are problematic, I've never made the search function work, and it doesn't even print well for me, but if you want to look up one thing in a book and you know more or less where it is it is pretty cool, and for 40-50 US its a good deal. don't know if they ship to the US, their info email is EMAIL:tcm-encyclopaedia and last time I wrote to them somebody wrote back with reasonable english. Chances are one of the big book disributers in California would be able to order it if you can get an ISBN. Aparently this is a consilidation of a previous multi cd set. Jason mentioned a DVD with thousands of books, were you talking about this, or something else? Which OCR program do you use? - " " < Sunday, November 21, 2004 7:01 PM Re: another source of texts > > > , " " > <@c...> wrote: >> Furthermore, for those in China or traveling. Guest guest
Jason - How would someone not in China get this?
