Guest guest
The University of Missouri - Kansas City has a six year BA/MD program so that students can essentially skip college and go straight to med school without having to take the MCAT. Read about it here: http://research.med.umkc.edu/education/default.html (Personally, I think it would be much nicer to skip public high school rather than college.) It will be interesting to see how it affects the public perception of TCM educational standards if an increasing number of MD's start practicing after only six years of educational rather than eight. Is this such a new thing? My university (Northwestern) has had a 7-year program at least since the '80s, when I went there. I have a physician friend who's in her late 30s who did a similar program at Brown. Maybe *6* years is a recent development, but this sort of program is not new. > It will be interesting to see how it affects the public perception of TCM educational standards if an increasing number of MD's start practicing after only six years of educational rather than eight. I don't think enough people are aware of these kinds of trainings to make a difference in perception of MDs, IMO.
