Guest guest
Dear Colleagues The same poll (6 separate questions on AP in hypertension) is running now on CHA, PA-L and TCM. If you are a member of more than one of those lists, please answer the poll on only ONE list Voting in the poll has been low. One could read this as: (a) Few acupuncturists use AP to treat hypertension, or (b) Acupuncturists who have experience in treating hypertension are not interested in voting (summarising their experiences). Would those who have not voted please do so ASAP. I would like to close the poll in the next few days. Please answer ALL polls (1) to (6) ONLY if YOU use (or have used) ACUPUNCTURE routinely when treating hypertension. HYPERTENSION is defined as a resting blood pressure (BP, in mm Hg, systolic and diastolic) >140 (SBP) and >90 (DBP), respectively, confirmed at least TWICE before acupuncture treatment was given. The URLs to allow you to cast your votes are below: QUESTION 1: It is YOUR professional experience that, in the absence of western drug- or herbal- antihypertensive medication, ACUPUNCTURE + lifestyle changes alone can normalise BP in 80 to 100% of hypertensive patients? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/6tezr QUESTION 2: In the PAST YEAR, in how many hypertensive patients have you used acupuncture as the only, or main, treatment to normalise their blood pressure? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/6swhb QUESTION 3: In what PERCENTAGE of hypertensive patients treated in the PAST YEAR did acupuncture succeed in normalising blood pressure, i.e., reduce it to SBP <136 and DBP <91 mm Hg, respectively? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/622so QUESTION 4: Approximately how many sessions of acupuncture were needed to normalise BP? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/5jjb8 QUESTION 5: What was the average interval (in WEEKS) from the start of acupuncture until BP normalised? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/5yqjb QUESTION 6: Once BP has normalised, about how many acupuncture SESSIONS per YEAR are needed to MAINTAIN BP in the normal range (give your estimated average number)? CHAers VOTE at: http://tinyurl.com/6srr9 NOTE: Please do NOT reply to this message. Poll votes are NOT collected via email. To vote, you must go to the URLs listed above. Some of you have voted on Q1 (or other questions) already, but have not voted on ALL questions. Please do so ASAP. Many thanks! Phil
