Guest guest
It is now believed that the constant arisal of cancer in the body is the reason cells have a determinate lifespan. If cells did not have a built-in death mechanism, we would all die of cancer in our infancy. Ironically, the same process that prevents cancer during early and midlife causes it in old age (I am of course not talking about easily preventable cancers like lung, but rather those that are ubiquitous like prostate, ovarian and breast.). The death of too many cells weakens immunity and provides another avenue for cancer development. This always happens in time. Almost all men over 85 have prostate cancer, for example. So the trick for the new western medicine will be to balance the increase of the righteous (extended cell life) with the tendency for " tonics " to produce excess (cellular waste, cancer, etc.). It would seem to be an embrace of an ancient idea in principle. I have always felt the main flaw in modern WM is ignorance of how to handle the righteous qi. The past 20 years have transformed everything, though. 20 years ago, few MDs thought much about nutrition as a disease factor. Now every major major western medical institution has made the leap. WM will be all over supplements in the next few years. Unlike TCM, there is huge growing body of reliable evidence for allopathic supplement usage. I always thought WM was doomed if it did not consider what every other medicine that has ever existed has considered - supporting the right and the center. Now such a philosophy is at the heart of the cutting edge of WM research. We can perhaps take some consolation that the constant stinging from those like us helped propel this change. With regard to diet and supplement, I think we played a role, but this other avenue is an independent development by researchers who have given little thought at all to TCM. I have no idea what the solution is to preventing cell death while also preventing cancer, but a lot of folks smarter than me believe the answer will soon come. Guest guest
Anwsers to these and other questions will not come to those who continue to think in their old ways. As for this group " Almost all men over 85 have prostate cancer " it is not known how many consume growth-hormone infected meat/dairy progducts. Interesting that there appears to be a high correlation of cancer to glands producing sex hormones. Cancer is a modern epidemic, which has increased from the time of petrochemcal usage (1940's) on.
