Ear Seeding

In my clinic the supervisor is very big on seeding the

ear after a treatment.

I could not find any studies that discussed ear

seeding. From what I can find on the Internet it seems

to be pretty new.

When I ask returning patients if they believe they

receive any benefit from this process, they do not

seem to know, BUT they like to have it done.

Just from my own observation, I don't see any

benefit....am I wrong?

Hi,

From my experience, ear seedling can be quite effective. Why?

Because the patient can be sent home with " homework. " When they come

to the clinic, they can get a full treatment with acupuncture, but if

they are not on herbs, then at least the seeds will help to enhance

or strengthen what you are trying to do to them with acupuncture.

Auricular seeds are helpful only if the patient is taught how to

stimulate the seeds periodically throughout the day. Otherwise, it

would be of little benefit. I've had patients tell me that the seeds

helped, and it was the only thing I did. It is especially good for

pain, from what I've seen. It is also pretty effective for anxiety.

Hope this was helpful.
