Guest guest
This is an interesting article and on scanning thru it I found no specific mention of the glutamate pathway and what it entails. In the biochem text (2005 ed) that I referred to previously it was mentioned that glutamate is converted into glutamine by animals using a particular enzyme. The reverse is said to happen in bacteria and plants. Please forgive me if I missed something here but we are not bacteria nor plants and unless either of these two kingdoms are helping us to make this, I do not understand how this is happening. We do not make the enzyme needed to change glutamine into glutamate, not really the issue but thought I would mention it. An increase in comsumed glutamate might be the reason for the painful reactions as there is more than our body can utilize at the moment as well as substances not going thru the normal mode of production. Another thought might be related to an insufficiency of the enzyme needed for conversion. Anyway, this is interesting but a bit off topic. Sorry for the segue. Mike W.
