Guest guest
Our trip to Santa Cruz could very well be the turning point for Chana's recovery. I STRONGLY recommend to any practitioner treating neurological disorders to download and read carefully the newly posted first 11 chapters of the rewrite www.pdrecovery.org. What Janice Walton Hadlock and the Parkinson's recovery team have discovered is that there are 3 components to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's and to reverse the process requires not acupuncture and not necessarily herbs, but a form of yin tui na (different than what we learn in school which is very yang) translated as forceless, spontaneous release, or FSR along the lower extremity of the Stomach Channel, and working to shift the patient's mindset from one of fear and guarding to spontaneity and joy. The common elements of all Parkinson's patients they found are that some time in the past there has been a foot injury, usually around St 42, and often patients won't even remember having injured the foot! This has created an energetic blockage and eventually a reversal of the flow of qi in the stomach channel. These same people are intense, staid thinkers and worriers who are also constantly stimulating the adrenaline pathway (associated with the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system). Adrenaline is the counterpoint to dopamine(associated with the parasympathetic branch and manifested as creativity, playfulness, joy and spontaneity) and what they found was that not a lack of dopamine, but rather an excess of adrenaline surpresses the production of dopamine! A healthy person is constantly is using their dopamine pathway, and only turns on the adrenaline pathway when needed, the dopamine pathway still functioning, but passively. But these people always have their adrenaline pathway on, and even when the stomach channel blockage is removed (first by removing the lesion in the foot and then encouraging the flow of qi in the channel) they will not get well until they train themselves to think differently. (It is interesting to note that per capita, the country with the highest percentage of Parkinson's patient's is the United Kingdom. Coincidence?) In summary, their work is based upon two hypotheses: (to quote Janice) " 1. Parkinson's disease is a curable disorder. Its development follows a logical sequence of predictable biological responses. It can be reversed. 2. Their are three components to the energetic blockage that causes parkinson's disease: an attitude of stoic denial, a foot injury, and the electrical confusion that ultimately results from the unhealed injury. The attitude prevents emotional and/or physical acknowledgement of the injury. Because the injury is, for the most part ignored, it cannot commence healing. " Though Chana has not been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but rather Parkinsonism, many of her manifestations are common with PD, and the team felt that she could be helped. Interestingly, each evening after treatments, and since then, her sleep has been much deeper and her presence, though more relaxed could almost be similar to one who is " drugged " . The FSR is quite simple to learn and is very similar to CranioSacral therapy, but even more " yin " and less invasive. I am, as I said at the outset, quite encouraged, and believe that the combination of the FSR, retraining her to think differently, and herbs will collectively bring about permanent change. We returned from Santa Cruz Thursday evening and met with Dr. Zhang Friday morning, March 4. Her last seizure was Saturday morning, Feb 26, 2005. Sleep continued to be sound, frequent urination was resolved, stools regular and unchanged, spasms and tremors significantly reduced. Phlegm nearly gone, but swallowing still subject to occasional choking on food. Walking , stamina and energy continuing to improve. Generally calmer, though still suspicious, and generally doubting that Santa Cruz treatment provided any benefit. Speech clear, but still some stuttering. Still with hearing difficulty, though no longer complaining of tinnitus. Tongue: light red body , tip a little red, cracks less pronounced. Pulse: right: tready and slightly choppy Left: thready and slightly choppy, a little bit stronger than right. Formula: dan nan xing 9,zhu ru 9, yuan zhi 6, fu shen 12, sheng di huang 21, xi yang shen 6, zhi shi 9, ban xia 9, chen pi 6, shi chang pu 6, zhe bei mu 9, gui ban 15, Bie Jia 15, bai shao yao 21, gou teng 15, E Jiao 9, chan tui 9, di long 9, tian ma 9, taken separately in capsule form: Da huang powder 3, hu po powder 3 (at bedtime only). ______________ last week: We met with Dr.Zhang, Thursday evening Feb 24, 2005. Seizures occurred earlier than usual, first one after 15 days. Seizures occurred Saturday, Monday, Tuesday (two) and Wednesday. Sleep was much better with the new formula, until Wednesday night, when sleep was disturbed. I observed that seizures were instigated by visitors and exciting or emotional news. Severe spasms in arms and chin, definitely more severe when closer to seizure. Urination also much more frequent, particularly closer to seizures. Stools daily, large, soft and foul smelling. A LOT of phlegm in her throat especially, and very difficult to swallow. Appetite good, walking well, though not much stamina. Not clumsy and falling over like in the past and not afraid to go outside. A lot of emotional extremes, especially after seizures, very angry and suspicious, and after first and second seizures, strong but acted very silly with inappropriate laughter. Not especially weak or tired, balance good, speech good, difficulty hearing with tinnitus. Tongue: red tip with mid-line cracks Pulse: right:choppy and thready Left: wiry and choppy Formula: dan nan xing 9,zhu ru 9, yuan zhi 6, fu shen 12, xi yang shen 5, zhi shi 9, ban xia 9, chen pi 6, shi chang pu 6, zhe bei mu 9, gui ban 15, Bie Jia 15, bai shao yao 15, gou teng 30, E Jiao 9, chan tui 9, di long 9, tian ma 9, taken separately in capsule form: Da huang powder 3, hu po powder 3(at bedtime only).
