Guest guest
Marilyn Allen of CSOMA informed me the other day that State Senator Liz Figueroa in CA has introduced a bill to eliminate the primary care language in the state acupuncture law. I am not sure this is such a big deal as this language has caused so much controversy without actually granting any real rights under the law. I have not been able to find anything about this on the web yet. Marilyn said they were initiating a FAX campaign ASAP. Perhaps Greg could comment if he knows more. The only recent newslink related to acupuncture and Senator Figueroa I found was this one: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/politics/10932246.htm this article talks about the the governor's retreat on his order to disband 88 state boards. It mentions a few other interesting things, though. Ms. Figueroa was on the Little Hoover commission. so while she opposed the Governor's across the board order, she she does NOT oppose the disbanding of the Acupuncture board. In fact, she signed off on a report that made that a recommendation to be considered. The governor plans to " retool " his order and and in all likelihood, the Acupuncture board will once again be targeted since the Guv wants it gone and the powerful Senator Figueroa, often his opponent in Sacramento, is pretty much with him on this one.
