Guest guest
I have a new patient who, 9 weeks ago, awoke with, he estimates, sudden 85% deafness in one ear. No tinnitus; no wind symptoms. He felt just a little 'off' the night before: a little queasy. He's in his late 50's and only shows mild signs of K qi and yin xu and lower jiao damp-heat--nothing remarkable. Unfortunately, I don't have his chart in front of me. Has anyone treated this type of condition successfully? The ENT MD confirmed impaired hearing and said it was probably due to a virus and that the neurological damage may or may not improve. Guest guest
Did the MD check blood levels? Seems odd no mention of fever, swollen glands, etc showing some external pathogenic factor. You mention some uneasy feeling the night before, which makes me wonder about something the patient might have eaten that created an allergic type reaction. By the way, Kiiko has some wonderful ideas on acu points to relieve pressure pain in the local area as well as abdomen. This is an acute problem and relief should be quick as well, I hope. Mike W.
