Guest guest
Is anyone familiar with studies on the fungus mi huan which grows from the gastrodia (tian ma) plant, and whose " anti-liver wind " properties apparently are significantly stronger than the mother plant Tian Ma? It is sold in capsule form in Chinatown LA, is mentioned in Naeser's book on Patents, and I have been experimenting with it with Chana over the last 2 days, to calm her tremors and to prevent seizures, with pretty amazing results. We will see Dr. Zhang this evening. Yehuda " When you see someone doing something wrong, realize that it was brought before you because you did something similar. Guest guest
Hi there! I think you meant tian ma MI huan. I can't find tian ma mi (huan) jun in the ZhongYao Da Ci Dian, but did find " tian ma mi huan jun pian " in " Xin Quan Shi Yong Zhong ChengYao Shouce " (~ New Complete Handbook of Chinese Patent Medicines), p.365. It reads: " ingredient: Tian ma (gastrodia) mi (honey) huan (ring, circle) jun (fungus). functions: Benefits Qi to stabilize convulsions, nourishes blood to unblock channels. Mainly treats all types of dizziness, neural weakness, tinnitus, numbness in the limbs, epilepsy. dosage: 3-5 pills t.i.d. (100 .25g pills/bottle) Sorry for the really rough translation. Hope it helps. --chris Message: 11 Mon, 28 Mar 2005 08:35:23 -0800 Yehuda L Frischman < tian ma ni huan su Is anyone familiar with studies on the fungus mi huan which grows from the gastrodia (tian ma) plant, and whose " anti-liver wind " properties apparently are significantly stronger than the mother plant Tian Ma? Guest guest
Blue Poppy Herbs uses this fungus instead of the endangered Gastrodia. From what I understand, this parasitic fungus is actually what is responsible for the medicinal effects of Gastrodia. In any case, we shouldn't be using Gastrodia anymore.
