Guest guest
Why are people so upset that I would postulate a new take on jing when TCM already opts out of curing jing disorders, stating that prenatal jing cannot be changed. Sure, make the case we should not mess with DNA, but that is fine for your own body, not mine. But make the case that TCM has something curative to offer in this realm is just untrue. And part of this discussion involves the mounting evidence that much degenerative disease has genetic roots and may only be mitigated by lifestyle. For those who read data closely, you notice a curious thing in research on the prevention of cancer and heart disease that is often left unspoken. Even if you do everything right, you will still likely succumb to one of these two. Living the right lifestyle reduces cancer and heart disease risks at every stage of life, but you will still die some day. However at any age, the reduced risk still leaves one fact unchanged. You may have less risk than your peers to drop dead of an MI, but you are still far more likely to die this way than any other way, even if you eat right and exercise. Add that to the well documented fact in modern gerontology that family history of longevity is the the most accurate predictor of personal longevity. Diet and exercise are definitely factors to a point, but in the end, its your genes that usually get you. Among centenarians, it is just as likely to find the abstemious as the indulgent. We do a disservice to our patient every time we suggest there is any evidence that TCM can cure these illnesses when there is only evidence of palliation if one looks real carefully. Excellent, noniatrogenic palliation, but palliation nonetheless. TCM is not the salvation of mankind, just an important piece in the delivery of safe, effective modern healthcare Chinese Herbs
