Left side worse, especially UB/GB channel area. Symptoms are better when wearing tight sneakers and on weekends. Worse at end of day after working a desk job. Tongue has a somewhat thick turbid coating in rear. Ocassional gas/bloating. Patients claims to have been tested negative for heart pathology. She is taking lipitor to lower cholesterol. Diagnois is spleen qi xu failing to transform fluids. Two acupuncture sessions have brought immediate reduction of swelling. Results from first TX lasted for two days. Any recomendations for a formula? I am most likely going to have to use a pre made prescription. -Asaf
Guest guest
Hi Asaf, You might also consider whether she had kidney xu, as lower body edema is often attributed to the kidneys. asafm24 <asafm24 wrote: Patient is a middleaged somewhat overweight woman with swelling mainly on dorsal aspect of both feet and around ankles. Guest guest
Asaf, When I was an intern I worked with a few lower extremity swelling cases. Herb formulas were quite helpful. Unless there is pitting consider the Qi and/or Blood stagnation aspects also. I actually saw the blood stagnation with purple skin. One herb I remember using alot was Chuan Niu Xi. Perhaps in the long term you could use prepared formulas but start out customizing a formula.
