In some cases it is about rate-limiting enzymes. i.e. The ALA in flax seed gets converted to EPA and DHA with a few tablespoons, but if one uses large amounts little or no EPA and DHA is produced. (D-6-desaturase is needed twice in pathway) Although a loose example does anyone know the biochem mechanisms that might cause the opposite effect with herbs? (As an aside can I gently suggest that if folks start a new thread from a " Digest " email that the subject is changed to something meaningful? Glancing down my subject list of " Digest Number #### " is dubious. I guess that is up to Todd. I went ahead and changed this subject heading.) regards, george
