Guest guest
Hi All, I recently saw a patient with neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition which causes growth of neurofibromas alone nerve pathways. This man is coming to see me for asthma and allergies, and there are literally thousands of these fibromas on his chest and back. My question is more about acupuncture than herbs, and I hope this is ok on this site. I treated him this week using back shu points, being careful to avoid the fibromas, and it seemed to me that in-between the growths, his skin is thickened. I am concerned that it may be unwise or unhealthful for me to insert needles in or around these areas. Does anyone have experience or information about treating someone with this condition? I have considered using only distal points, where the fibromas are sparse, or working only herbally with him. I have diagnosed him with spleen qi deficiency generating dampness and phlegm, and lung qi deficiency as well. Thank you for your input. I truly appreciate it.
