Guest guest
I have made a number of teaching materials freely available recently via my website. I know all of you don't have websites, but anyone who wants to share teaching materials with the group can always upload the files to the list server at http://health./files This type of sharing is pretty common in most other fields. Please be aware that most of the content of teaching materials I have seen is in the public domain and is derived from multiple reference texts. Personally, I think once your text is a board approved reference, every word in it is public domain since it is required to be known by law and you can't personally control data of this sort. In any event, you can easily confirm the standard herb, pattern and formula data in three or more independent sources (i.e. sources that don't use each other as references, for example Bensky, Chen and Jiao for herbs). Materials of this sort can be used for educational purposes that don't involve profit on the materials without any compensation to the creator. However, if you try and sell this material, you are then stealing intellectual property. So people should feel comfortable uploading various tables and other files, but no one else should repackage this material without permission and charge their students for it. Capish?
