I have a clinical question for you. I saw a new patient yesterday

who does not have enough amniotic fluid ( " dangerously low " ). She is

27, a long term vegetarian and 20 weeks pregnant. Her pulses tend to

be weaker but they are not minute. Her body type is robust though

she is slightly pale and there is a darkness under her eyes. Here is

what I found.

Kidney Qi deficiency - polyuria, nocturia (a lot), dark under eyes.

Kidney Jing deficiency - a dip in the back of her tongue

Slight Spleen Qi deficiency - slight scallops on the edge of her

tongue but no digestive difficulties at all

Blood deficiency - sallow complexion and weak pitted nails, poor

night vision

this helps explain her slightly scanty menses before pregnancy.

No signs of Blood stasis except for somewhat tortured sub-lingual veins.

Red dots on the tongue, which is just slightly pale, show some

depressive heat. There is a slightly thick white moss in the back of

the tongue.

I am thinking of supplementing Spleen and Kidney Qi and nourishing

blood with an emphasis on decreasing urination. I would include some

gentle blood movers such as chuan xiong.

My question is if you have any experience or suggestions for this?

It's quite dangerous for the baby if not fatal.

Thanks for any consideration you give this.

best,

Sharon
