Guest guest
Is wu mei ume? Its fun to say but are they the same? Bensky gives a different Japanese for wu mei. I love the jars of dense concentrate of ume, but it is not popular here, no? Anyone have experience with this? Thanx, Cameron
Guest guest
Wu mei is fructus mume, but it is often prepared in vinegar. The ume concentrate is made from the green fruit, cooked into a dense syrup. Umeboshi plums are picked in salt and zi su ye, perilla leaves (shiso). Yes, it is the same fruit.
