Guest guest
We are seeking bilinguals (Chinese/English) to come to Beijing to translate Chinese medical literature into English. Well-qualified applicants are offered: 1) Free hospital study in virtually any CM subject 2) Ph.D. scholarship to study virtually any field of CM (assuming previous master's degree) 3) Free travel to China, free housing, and a very high salary by PRC standards 4) Fantastic connections with top doctors, publishers, and other big players in the international CM community 5) Many publication opportunities on central CM topics Applicants should be: 1) Fluent in written Chinese and fluent in English. We prefer native speakers of English but will consider non-native speakers if they have near-native English abilities. Prior experience with translation and editing is preferred. Fluency in spoken Mandarin is preferred. 2) Applicants should be familiar with the advanced English expression of Chinese medical concepts and must be competent at the consistent application of professional Chinese medical terminology. In addition, there may be future work available for text translation from home. Payment would likely be based upon the number of Chinese characters translated. Only true bilinguals with a strong Chinese medical education will be considered for this type of work. Finally, future opportunities may exist for non-Chinese speaking students to participate in work-study positions. Applicants would be screened based on their knowledge of Chinese medicine and would have access to hospital study to develop their clinical skills. This potential development is still at least several months away. Guest guest
Thank you for making the arrangements for such programs. I'll keep PCOM students informed of these opportunities. They are too valuable to pass up, and point to a healthier future for our profession. I wish such opportunities were open for my generation of practitioners 25 years ago. Thanks also for emphasizing the importance of language study and the clinical significance of terminology and accurate transmission of the medicine. I greatly respect that you show your students that CM is a lifelong course of study, and the world needs more teachers who truly pass on the mentorship model that has always been at the basis of CM study.
